Spice Farm Tour

The Spice World!

In days past, Zanzibar was known as a spice island, exporting cloves, vanilla, nutmeg and cardamom across the world. The spices were brought over from Asia and South America. And they flourished in the tropical climate of Zanzibar. Nowadays the plantations are a tribute to the island’s past. So they’ve swapped spices for tourism, combining both in a spice tour.

Walk through the spice farm with your guide. Touch, smell and taste different spices and tropical fruits. Or try to guess which is which. By examining the crushed leaves, the fruit, shoots and vines and creepers crawling up the Zanzibar spice tour trees. Learn about the various properties of spices, their origins and their use as medicines. The Zanzibar spice farm tour gives you the opportunity to visit a spice farm village. Which gives you an insight into local life and the chance to try some Swahili dishes. Taste the fruits in season and sample some spiced tea.

Stone Town Tour

The Cultural Heartbeat

Discover Zanzibar City’s UNESCO-listed historic center on a Stone Town walking tour that explores Zanzibar’s history and distinctive architecture, from a bustling local market to a Sultan’s palace-turned-museum. Sightseeing on foot mean you can leave cars behind while following Stone Town's most narrow, winding streets, and group size is limited to 10 people for personalized service from the guide. Stone Town is the cultural heart of the island and the old city area of Zanzibar City, located on the western shore. The city got its name from the many big multistory buildings made of stone which form the landscape of the old town part. This buildings are actually not made of stone, but with mortar and corals. Although the corals were a good and easily available building material, they are also easily damageable. Some of the houses are in a bad shape and the Stone Town Conservation Authority co-ordinates the restorations of this houses to maintain the towns original glory.

Zanzibar Dolphin Tour

home of several pods of humpback & bottlenose dolphins

Dolphin safari offers you the experience of a lifetime, a chance to see the dolphins and even swim with them, if the environment allows. The seashore of the fishing village Kizimkazi is the home of several pods of humpback and bottlenose dolphins. The dolphins are officially protected by the 420 km2 Menai Bay Conservation Area, which was set up in 1997 to stop the rapid depletion of fish stocks. The dolphins can be spotted on a short boat trip. If you are lucky, you can even have a very special experience of the dolphins swimming so close that you could almost touch them. You can also feel the brilliant sensation of swimming with the dolphins, but please don't expect to touch them, since they are very shy.

An old quarantine station, giant tortoises and snorkeling

Zanzibar Sandbank Picnic

Perfect snorkelling and picnic location.

There are two sandbanks located approximately one kilometre offshore Stone Town. The turquoise water of the warm ocean is ultra clear. During low tide, either sandbank makes a perfect snorkelling and picnic location or for simply laying in the sand. We board the dhow and then set sail towards Bawe Island; here we will do some snorkeling with our guide to see the stunning array of colored corals and tropical fish of the islands. Then hop back on-board and let us sail you away to the sand bank. A seemingly uninhabited and quiet bank in the ocean suddenly comes to life with millions of birds flying overhead and ghost crabs scurrying across the golden sands. Our crew will cook for you a delicious lunch with grilled fish, local lobster, rice and tropical fruits. After lunch relax on the sandbank listening to the bird life around you and the hush of waves lapping against the shore.
