10 Days Scenic Bush and Pristine Beach
Kilimanjaro - Serengeti - Ruaha National Park - Pemba Island - Dar Es Salaam
Day One
Arrival Kilimanjaro
Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport where you’ll be met after passing through customs and driven to the Rivertrees Country Inn set in the serene foot hills of Mt. Meru. We highly recommend extending your stay by one extra night to help recover from jet lag and take advantage of some of the fun activities in the area such as canoeing on Lake Duluti or an easy mountain bike ride through the lush mountain scenery.
Days Two - Four
Northern Serengeti
Enjoy a beautiful scenic flight this morning, soaring over the Ngorongoro crater and rift valley escarpment on an expeditious route to the heart of the Serengeti National park. Break out your binoculars and begin your first game drive as you make your way to a Olakira Camp. This deluxe mobile safari camp follows the great migration throughout the year, so whenever you travel you’ll be perfectly poised to take in this ecological spectacle. Each day you’ll have the option of an early morning game drive and a picnic breakfast, or leaving a bit later and taking your lunch with you. Longer game drives enable you to visit different areas of the Serengeti looking for struggles between predator and prey or the chance to watch interactions between different families of elephants.
Days Five - Seven
Ruaha National Park
Considered one of the undiscovered wildernesses of East Africa, Ruaha fans out from the Ruaha River, the lifeline of the park. This massive national park is the largest in Tanzania at over 20,000 km2 and is even larger than the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It also hosts an estimated 10% of the lions in the world as well as boasting the world’s third largest population of wild dogs. It is one of the few areas with a sustainable population of cheetah left in E. Africa. In addition to the staggering number of unique predators, the varying topography of rocky granitic outcrops “kopjes”, majestic baobabs, and expansive grassland plains are home to species not found in northern Tanzania parks including sable, roan, and greater and lesser kudu.
Days Eight - Ten
Pemba Island
Kick off your shoes and relax in a hammock watching the wind blow over the water and the dhow fishing boats sail by. The next few days are yours to do as little or as much as you like. Snorkeling, diving (at additional cost), fishing sailing on a dhow are all options for leisure. Retire at night to your private seafront villa and drift off to the sound of waves lapping the shore. One of your nights you’ll have the option of sleeping out in the Underwater Room – a private room anchored off shore. Sunbathing by day, wondering at the Milky Way after dark and falling asleep with 360 degree underwater views of the Indian Ocean are what make this the most exclusive room in all of Africa! There is no finer way to finish your African adventure!v
Day Ten
Transfer to Dar Es Salaam
Pack up your belongings for a short flight back to the mainland where you can relax with day use room at the Oyster Bay hotel. Take one last seaside stroll and eat a final tasty dinner before heading to the Dar es Salaam international airport in the evening for your departing flight.
